Mick Jagger amazed by Machu Picchu’s majesty

Even though rain fell over the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu, frontman of British rock band The Rolling Stones Mick Jagger and his family were amazed by the majesty of said wonder of the world.

The singer of Satisfaction entered the Inca sanctuary at 05.20 hours (10.20 GMT) under strict security measures along with his son and girlfriend.

The rock star visited areas such as The Room of the Three Windows, the torreon (large fortified tower), the templo principal (main temple) and the Intihuatana.

Mick Jagger finished his visit at 07:25 hours. Some sources say that the rock icon and his family returned to Inkaterra hotel, located in the district of Machu Picchu (also known as Aguas Calientes).

Moreover, it is expected that Jagger and his family will soon start their journey back to the city of Cusco, located 1,650 kilometers away from Lima.

The 68-year old musician arrived in Lima on Friday, October 7, and was greeted by a group of surprised fans who recognized him at the Jorge Chavez airport in Lima. He was accompanied by a child and his security personnel.

During his stay, he has met with Peruvian President Ollanta Humala and his wife Nadine Heredia at the Government Palace.

In recognition of his work as a philanthropist and environmentalist, Sir Michael Philip "Mick" Jagger was declared distinguished guest and ambassador of Madre de Dios by local authorities of this southeastern region in the Peruvian Amazon.
