Lima, Jul. 13 (ANDINA). Some 40,246 votes so far support the campaign Cocina Peruana para el Mundo (Peruvian Cuisine to the World), with the aim of having Peruvian cuisine declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).
The goal of this campaign, promoted by the Ministry of Culture and the Peruvian Association of Gastronomy (Apega), is to obtain 500,000 votes so that Peruvian gastronomy receives the aforementioned recognition.
Several modules have been placed in educational institutions associated to Apega and in public spaces in Lima and other regions in order to obtain the number of votes required.
The Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage was created by the Unesco in 2003 and aims to protect, spread and preserve the intangible cultural heritage.
The number of votes increases every day and everyone interested in joining this cause may do it by casting their votes at www.cocinaperuanaparaelmundo.pe.
