Peru Travel News: Peru begins Pisco Sour Day celebrations

Lima. Feb. 03 (ANDINA). Peru has formally begun celebrations to mark the Pisco Sour Day this weekend. Since 2003. Peruvians commemorate the Pisco Sour as their national cocktail with official celebrations on the 1st Saturday of February.

Production Minister Jorge Villasante unveiled on Thursday a varied program of activities designed for this special occasion.

The presentation ceremony was held this morning at La Ermita church in the traditional district of Barranco in Lima.

Expats join celebrations

Pisco Sour Day is this Saturday. February 5th and Gaston Acurio's La Mar Cebicheria in San Francisco is celebrating the national drink of Peru with $5 Pisco Sours from open ‘til close on Friday. February 4 (11:30 a.m. onward) and Saturday. February 5 (12pm onward).

La Mar’s Pisco Sour is made with Pisco Quebranta (peruvian brandy). lime juice. simple syrup. dash of egg white and a drop of regional bitters.
