News: Lambayeque expects 10.000 tourists over Independence Day weekend

 
Chiclayo. Jul. 31 (ANDINA). The six museums scattered in the department of Lambayeque. in northern Peru. expect to close the long weekend for the national holidays with the arrival of over 10.000 Peruvian and foreign tourists. the director of the Executive Unit 111 Celso Sialer Távara said.

Lambayeque houses the museums of the Royal Tombs of Sipan. Bruning and the Sican National Museum. and the site museums of Túcume. Huaca Rajada-Sipan and Chotuna-Chornancap.

He stated that during the first two days of the long weekend. some 2.500 tourists –who were attracted by the archaeological wealth– visited the museums.

‘The Huaca Rajada-Sipan museum was opened last year featuring a little idol of copper -a masterpiece of Mochica metal working- and a floating skeleton of a warrior priest. which represents the Funeral chamber #14 discovered in the archaeological complex of Huaca Rajada (Sipan).’ stated Sialer.

Meanwhile. the museum of the Royal Tombs of Sipan received on Wednesday July 27 some 792 tourists. from which 100 were foreigners. and 1.036 people on the following day. from which 901 were Peruvians.
