Lima. Jun. 30 (ANDINA). Lima is among the world's cheapest cities for foreigners. according to the last Cost of Living survey conducted by the US consultancy firm Mercer. in which the Peruvian capital ranks 135th out of the 214 cities across the world.
This study was made at the end of the first quarter and measures the comparative cost of over 200 products and services used in 300 establishments. including housing. transport. food. clothing. entertainment and household goods.
Lima has become cheaper since last year. falling 13 places compared last year’s survey. when ranked 22nd. The capital city reached 115th place in 2008.
According to Mercer. governments and multinational corporations use this information to get an idea of the purchasing power of their employees when transferred abroad.
