Lima. Jun. 29 (ANDINA). The restoration works of the Cusco-Machu Picchu railroad have finished enabling national and foreign tourists to make direct trips since July 1. deputy minister of Transportation Hjalmark Marangunich reported.
The official participated in the reopening of the Cusco-Machu Picchu railway and mentioned that the most critical points were in the kilometers 77. 78 and specially 79.
'The works done at kilometer 79 included the construction of a new embankment.' he said.
The deputy minister recalled that during the first three months of the operation of the full railroad (July. August and September) the operators will operate the trains under some speed restrictions.
The rehabilitation of the Piscacucho (kilometer 82)-Machu Picchu railroad was finished on last March 29.
In addition. FTSA will continue working on the integral rehabilitation of the 110 kilometers of the Cusco-Machu Picchu road until the end of this year.
