Trujillo. May 20 (ANDINA). Experts of the Executing Unit Nº 110 project. responsible for the preservation and restoration of the archaeological complex of Chan Chan. have proposed four areas where the Gran Chimú National Museum could be built.
Project director Cristobal Campana said that the first choice is located at Pampas de Santa María. northern Trujillo. between the districts of La Esperanza and Huanchaco. The second one is at Pampas del Padre Abad. behind the Ramón Castilla military school.
Both places are in the intangible area of the archaeological monument. which is why the works must have the authorization of the National Institute of Culture (INC).
'If the INC accepts the construction in the intangible area. we would have three benefits: one. take up an area which is permanently in risk of being invaded; second. accelerate the construction of a space that will enable to revalue the greatness of the Chimú empire; and three. save the elevated cost that would be required to purchase the land.' he said.
The museum could also be built in front of the cemetery Parque Eterno or behind the Mall Aventura Plaza shopping center.
The museum project. which will house everything regarding the Chimú culture. has an initial budget allocation of 10 million soles.
