Puno. Mar. 06 (ANDINA).- In order to foster the regional tourist potential and extend the stay of visitors. the Swisscontact foundation's Gestur project promotes the tourist circuit "Tesoro Aymara" (Aymara Treasure) steeped in tradition. art. nature. and culture.
The first stop on the tour is Juli. 80 kilometers away from the city of Puno. including visits to San Juan and La Asuncion churches. as well as the handicraft center “Bartolina de Olla”. where 28 Aimara women display their best pieces.
These women have been trained and received technical assistance to innovate their designs. materials. colors and motifs. among others.
The best part of the journey is crossing the waters of Wiñaymarka. also known as "Lago Menor" (Smaller Lake). and a series of rivers like Iscaya. Lluthe. Caana. Patahuata. Yuspique. Anapia. Suana. Kcaño and Huata. where people can enjoy one of the most imposing landscapes of the region.
Then. the trip is made in a sailboat through the Titicaca Lake to Anapia. where visitors are warmly welcomed by families willing to share their lives. such as fishing and harvesting activities.
