Peru Highland Destinations
The Peruvian Coastline definitely had some great places for travelers to arrive at and tour as well as several fun activities to be part of such as: riding dune buggies across the desert. san boarding down the Ica Dunes and visiting sea lions on an island or of course taking a plane tour over the mysterioys Nazca lines. Now let’s try to go over some of the Highland region locations that are necessary to include in any itinerary. Here is where it can be tricky. there are many interesting destinations in the highlands such as Arequipa. the Colca Valley and Canyon. Puno. Lake Titicaca. Cusco. Machu picchu. Huaraz and so on. This list is pretty long but it is well worth to go to each place if you can. every destination has something special and unique to offer travelers.
The jewel that most tourists are after when they think about coming to Peru is of course Machu Picchu. In order to arrive at this majestic Inca city you first need to reach Cusco. here you will likely meet fellow travelers from different points in the globe. Now the way you decide to reach Machu Picchu can be an adventure in itself. Many people opt for the traditional way of the Inca to reach the lost city. this way is called “The Inca Trail” and it is one of the most popular trails in the world. Basically you trek through the Andes for 3-5 days passing through beautiful Highland scenery and sleep under the crisp. star studded Andean night. At the end of the hike you reward is of course passing through the gates into Machu Picchu and venturing into the ruins as your guide explains the history surrounding this location.
There are of course more places for you to go to not only in the highlands but also in the third region of Peru which is the Jungle which contains the exotic Amazon Rainforest.
