Cusco Travel

Cusco travel is on the rise; it is a very popular city to visit and is the starting point to the many trails and tours that are available in this Andean region.  Cusco has been for a long time the city in Peru which everyone is anxious to visit; it has unique architecture. impressive churches and cathedrals which will undoubtedly form part of your Cusco city tour.

The Tour during your Cusco Travel begins with a visit to San Cristobal Main Square where you will have a panoramic view of the entire city of Cusco. and the well-known San Blas neighborhood. one of the most picturesque areas in all of Cusco. This place also goes by the name T’oqokachi or Salt Hole and is characterized by narrow. steep streets and beautiful Colonial houses; it indeed reminds you that you are well into the Andes. It is also known as the Artisans Neighborhood due to there being several stores and shops offering paintings. handicrafts. even clothing with a local flair. We will then walk by Hatunrumiyoc Street. where you can see an old Inca wall that was part of the Inca Roca palace which demonstrates the admirable construction skill of the Inca in terms of polished and perfectly placed stones. the way some stones are placed within Cusco and of course Machu Picchu has baffled archeologists and scientist of several fields for many years. The most remarkable part is the “Twelve-Angled Stone”. famous for the perfect workmanship and assembling of its angles; to this day it’s a mystery how this was accomplished since the necessary tools to do this type of work were not supposed to exist at the time of its making.

Next on our Cusco travel and Cusco city tour we will visit the Temple of the Sun “El Korikancha”. a place where the sun. one of the major gods. was worshiped. The story goes that when the conquistadors arrived in the city the temple was completely covered with a layer of gold but as several other golden treasures of the region they were most likely taken and melted by the invaders.  Inside. you will see perfectly shaped stones which put a benchmark on how the conquistadors built what is currently the Convent of Santo Domingo.  The Cusco city tour continues to Cathedral containing different paintings of the so-called Cusqueño Art School. portraying passages of history during conquests and colonial times.  To book this Cusco city tour as well as any other Cusco travel or Peru tour travel plans contact us today for a free itinerary.
