Article: Travel to Puno

Puno is located in the Peruvian highland and is frequently visited by the various types of tourist that arrive in Peru.  It’s the access point to visiting Lake Titicaca. the highest navigable lake in the world at almost 4.000 meters above sea level (13.000 feet).

The view from the lakeside hotels to the lake is amazing and is worth every penny just to be able to stand there and gaze upon the Andean sun bouncing of the lake waters.  One of the major attractions to this region are the manmade islands floating and constantly moving in the Lake.  They were constructed by the locals with regional materials and they actually live on these with their entire families and rarely come onto land. only on certain occasions to trade goods or buy some essentials.  It is permitted to board their islands during the Titicaca lake tours.  You can sit and talk with the island dwellers and maybe get their point of view into why they prefer to live on a floating island in this huge lake than stick to the mainland.

Remember that it’s always better to plan ahead when travelling to a foreign country. try to get all your hotels. tours. meals and local transport in order.  Of course the easiest way of doing this is having a professional agency take care of you and your travel partners the entire time of your visit.  Having someone which is in the field arrange your vacation is probably a better option then you guessing on which hotels to book and whether the prices are correct or if they are too high.  An agency with experience will arrange the best Peru travel experience available according to your budget.  Contact  for a free estimate on a full Peru vacation package including Puno. Lake Titicaca. Cusco. Machu Picchu. the Amazon and the many more destinations this beautiful country offers to all travelers.
