Article: Hiking in Peru

Many people decide to travel to Peru in order to hike and trek its hills. mountains and trails.  Peru has many places to offer hikers. from the very easy trails to the very intense and difficult ones.  The beautiful scenery available makes hiking in Peru a very rewarding experience.

The most widely known and most popular trail for hiking in Peru would have to be The Inca trail.  When the Incas decided to build Machu Picchu. which was recently voted as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. they chose a heavenly place. It is only fitting that to reach this spiritual place; travelers like to follow the ancient Inca Trail in the footsteps the Incas.

Considered by many hikers the most awe-inspiring trek on earth. this route to Machu Picchu allows travelers to visit remote Incan ruins. experience diverse ecosystems and gaze at the majestic Andes Mountains. All trekkers are welcome; the Inca Trail is not difficult. it is one of the easiest treks when hiking in Peru.  This makes it accessible to almost all travelers.

The Salcantay trek is a wonderful alternative to the Inca trail; this is a trail for the traveler who wants something a bit more difficult when hiking in Peru.  For those who like adventure. this particular trek may be better than any of the other traditional routes to Machu Picchu. This remote path winds through an amazing variety of landscapes and habitats varying from green. rich valleys full of blossoming forests and trees of different species. to highland fields and glacial peaks full of steep edges and scenery of impressive beauty. It can be done anytime of the year. but the best time for this trek is from April to December.

For trekkers wanting to get off the beaten tourist path and escape to a part of Peru that has remained relatively unchanged over the last 500 years. hiking in Peru through the spectacular scenery of the Lares Valley is a must. This remote and rarely visited region offers the trekker an insight into the real lives of the Andean farmer. dressed in their traditional brightly colored ponchos. You’ll have the opportunity to see stone houses surrounded by herds of llamas and alpacas. while inside the houses you’ll see guinea pigs running loose. The trek itself is rated at moderate difficulty- similar to the Inca Trail. There are. however. two passes over 4000 meters above sea level. so it is essential that you are well acclimatized to the altitude before starting the trek.  This Peru Hike also has 2 ways to go. if you are experienced and have great stamina and like exercise then your guide might take you in the more experienced route which is also the more beautiful one (reaches 4.800 meters at its highest point).   If you wish. after your trek you can easily continue to Aguas Calientes by train to visit Machu Picchu the next morning.

Many of these trails have to be reserved months in advance. remember to have the www.perurooms.com team book everything for you.  Have fun and have a great hike in Peru.
